What is VoIP?

VoIP is Voice over Internet Protocol, which is a technology that allows you to make and receive phone calls and faxes over the Internet instead of the regular telephone network. VoIP services convert the voice signal from your telephone into packets that travel over the Internet. It converts to voice at the other end. You can speak to anyone to a regular/mobile phone number. When placing a VoIP call using a phone with an adapter, you'll hear a dial tone and dial just as you call from a regular phone line suppressing "00". VoIP may also allow you to make a call directly from a computer using a conventional telephone or a microphone.

Why should I use VoIP?

VoIP allows you to save money on your telephone bill, particularly for long-distance calls. You also get additional features with VoIP that either aren't available or cost more using a traditional phone service.

What kind of equipment and service do I need?

You need a broadband Internet connection (DSL, cable or satellite),

VoIP service provider, and one of the following

  • IP phone - also called an Internet phone or broadband phone
  • Analog telephone adapter (ATA) - which connects between your standard analog phone and the Internet

OR VoIP software - speakers and microphone that allows your PC to act as a phone

Why do I need a VoIP service provider if I have an internet connection?

VoIP service providers interface between the Internet (IP) and telecomm (PSTN) networks and are needed to initiate and terminate calls between these two networks. This allows you to send and receive calls from people that are using a standard phone or cell.

If I have VoIP Service, who can I call?

Depending upon your service you might be limited only to other subscribers to the service. Pulse allows you to call to the regular phone network so you will be able to call any phone number anywhere in the world. The call can be made to any international number. You may even utilize the service to speak with more than one person at a time. The person you are calling does not need any special equipment, just a regular phone.

Can I use my computer while I talk on the phone?

Yes, you can shares the Internet connection with VOIP Equipment and your computers that are on the network. For this feature you will be requiring a router or ADSL Modem and switch.

Can I take my phone adapter with me when I travel?

You will be able to use your VoIP service wherever you travel as long as you have a high-speed Internet connection. In that case it works as same from your home or business.

Does my computer have to be turned on?

Not if you are making calls with a phone and adaptor or special VoIP phone, but your broadband Internet connection needs to be active. You can also use your computer while talking on the phone.

Will I lose phone service if my internet connection or power goes down?

Unfortunately yes, this is one drawback of using VoIP.

How do I know if I have a VoIP phone call?

It will ring like any other call.

What is VOIP equipment?

VOIP Equipment is a hardware device which enables customer to make phone calls through the Internet Protocol (VoIP) without a computer.

What is the difference between different ports equipment?

Basically there is no difference between the different port Equipments. The more number of ports enable you to make more number of concurrent calls.

The call quality and clarity will remain the best irrespective of number of ports. The more number of ports provide access for having multiple calling facilities.

What are the hardware devices that are compatible with Pulse SIP platform?

What is the basic difference between public IP and private IP?

Public IP's are the IP's assigned by the Internet Service Provider and which are accessible globally. Private IP's are the IP's assigned locally by the Local System/Network administrator and which are not globally accessible.

Can Pulse provide internet services?

Pulse is a licensed Internet Service Provider (ISP). Pulse can offer Internet bandwidth to any customer within the service area.
Internet services can be offered to any customer, irrespective of him being a Pulse Telephony customer.

What do I do if I get echo and low volume during a call?

Echo's are caused by high latency in the internet bandwidth. This can be resolved by the internet service provider.

I am getting one-way communication, what do I do now?

Kindly check your Internet Bandwidth, first if you are calling a mobile number the voice transfer also depends upon the local mobile Service Operator of the called destination. For any further assistance, contact Pulse Customer Care.

There is no call clarity, what do I do now?

Preliminarily, check your Internet cable physical connectivity. Check your Internet quality by doing ping test to any site. For further assistance, kindly contact customer care.

Why do I get a delay in voice?

Preliminarily, check the internet bandwidth quality by doing the ping test. Higher the latency more the delay in voice. The recommended latency is below 400ms for good voice quality.

Pulse talk time are pre-paid or post-paid?

Currently we are providing prepaid talk time to our esteemed customers. However, we keep trying new innovations and if any such options are available we shall keep you updated. We charge applicable Service Tax on talk time.

How do I dial an international number?

While dialing any international number, do not add "zeros" in front of the number. Please follow the below process to dial.
Eg.: 12127773456 if you would like to dial USA

How are my calls charged?

The call charges are based on the destination. Different locations have different tariff structure. Rates for various destinations can be obtained from the website www.pulse.in by clicking on the Check Tariff and choosing the requisite destination.

Can I make domestic calls (within India) using pulse?

Yes, its possible to make calls within our network.

What is my account balance, where can I get my account details? How do I check my account details/ call detail records (CDR)?

Procedure to Check Account Balance/Call Details Records

  • Log on to www.pulse.in
  • Enter your account number and web password.
  • Click "Login"
  • If you are first time user, you get an option to change password.
  • Then enter into account by giving the changed password.
  • Click "CDR Browser" option.
  • Key in the From and To (DD/MM/YY) Date of which you would like to view the call details.
  • Click "Show CDR" Button.
  • All the call details pertaining to the selected Date will be displayed.
  • You can also check the account balance.

Can I make outgoing call from the same port?

You can use your DID facility not only for receiving inbound calls but also for making outgoing calls from the same port.

Which countries direct inward dialing DID number I can obtain?

What are basic requirement for obtaining a DID number?
